Born on September 17th, Alexis Taylor (Lex) is a SoFlo-based Artist and woman

of many talents …

*and wigs.*

Lex’s passion for the performing arts began at an early age. Always one to be loud, dramatic and colorful, she knew from childhood that performing was her happy place!

In middle school, Lex attended a Magnet program that exposed her to Jr. Thespians, opportunities to perform in musicals such as Once On This Island Jr. and Honk! Jr. and trips to New York with her Drama program.

It was during this time that she saw Wicked on Broadway and knew that this is what she would do for the rest of her life.

Having fallen in love with all things musical, she proceeded to attend another Magnet program, this time for High School. Lex had the privilege of being in the Chorus and had various opportunities to collaborate with the Drama program and graduated to being an official Thespian!

Ultimately, Lex received her BFA in Musical Theatre from Samford University (2014).

During her time at Samford, Lex performed in shows directed by fellow classmates, took stage and set design, auditioned at UPTA’s and SETC, was cast in her first professional musical (Legally Blonde at Red Mountain Theatre) and starred as the Lion in Wizard of Oz her Senior year!

Please enjoy this 2014 rehearsal video of Alexis (Lion) Cody (Scarecrow) Magdalena (Dorothy) and JD (Tin Man) singing “If I only Had the Nerve” from Samford’s production of Wizard of Oz.

Post college, Lex performed at Theatre Companies such as:

-Lexington Children’s Theatre (Long Road to Freedom, Rapunzel as Rapunzel, Fancy Nancy as Nancy, Cat in the Hat, and Snowy Days and Other Stories)

-Prairie Fire Children’s Theatre *Directed (Peter Pan as Mrs. Darling/Tiger Lil and Wizard of Oz as Wicked Witch of the West)

-Athen’s West in Failure: A Love Story as Nelly Fail

-Slowburn Theatre (Spring Awakening and Aida)

-Holiday World (Summer Shows and Graveyard Smash)

-Lightning Bolt Productions in Little Shop of Horrors as Crytsal

-Maltz Jupiter Theatre in The Drowsy Chaperone as Trix the Aviatrix

-Miami City Theatre (Short Cuts Tour and Short Cuts *Filmed)

Outside of traditional theatre, Lex has hosted and performed original poetry at Christian conferences such as The Pink Lid, Dream Conference, and Tiaras.

Furthermore, Lex has written, organized and put on numerous multimedia art events that successfully brought community and creatives together. She was even a recipient of an Artist grant from the Broward Cultural Arts Division (2023)! To see more, check out our Gallery!

She has also worked as the Assistant Director of Kids at Oasis Church as well as a Drama and Speech/Rhetoric Teacher at Weston Christian Academy and Benjamin Franklin K-8 Center.

During her three years at WCA, she excitedly directed various shows, including In A Galilee Far, Far Away, Arrest These Merry Gentlemen, Away In A Mango, The Virtual Family, and Peter Pan Jr. Lex was also given the privilege of performing alongside and for her students!

Along with teaching, Lex is a lover of poetry. She has, in fact, written her first collection that is lovingly titled “Palette Poetry.”

Inspired by the paint sample card found in Paint Departments, each poem is based off the name and color of that specific card! For more information, click HERE :)

Recently, Lex has spent her time working as a Postpartum & Birth Doula, enjoying being a Teaching Artist with Art Prevails Project, and coaching young performers through vocal and acting lessons.

Though Alexis has lived MANY lives, her focus, passion and heart will always be to make people feel seen, especially through creativity. That is why she is so excited YOU’RE here! Hopefully you stay a while. :)
